Tackling a small fire with a fire extinguisher may make all the difference between a small incident and a full scale fire and disaster.

Did you know that 30% of business’ who suffer a major fire either don’t reopen, or cease to trade within 3 years?

Fire extinguishers are not just another legal requirement…….it makes absolute sense to protect your staff, visitors, premises and ultimately your business.

Video Analytics Demo 2

By popular demand here is a bit more of our very own “dodgy gezzer” demonstrating the video analytics in action.

Video Analytics

CCTV technology just gets better and better!

More and more clients are choosing CCTV video analytics…..the DVR is programmed to classify movement, whether it be people, animals or vehicles etc. Your cameras can then be programmed to “follow” the relevant action.

We sent Rob out in the rain to be our “dodgy gezzer”! The camera images are not representative….we simply filmed our monitor with Nick’s phone, but you get the idea!

Campaign to reduce false fire alarms

Just doing my weekly google of all thing fire and security and I came across this interesting article by the FIA on reducing False Fire Alarms.

No one wants to waste fire brigade time and money especially at a time when budgets are under such pressure. Likewise false alarms cost businesses money with interruptions to the workday and even fines for persistent offenders. Equally, with lives and property at stake, a fire alarm is not something you want to get wrong.

It’s essential that fire detection systems are managed and maintained correctly. It’s in everyone’s best interests to reduce false alarms whilst ensuring people and property are safe.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have a great website  packed with useful information including the advice below on reducing false alarms~

The next steps  for your business

Please ensure…

  • The fire risk assessment for your premises is up to date and reflects the conditions in your premises.
  • Your fire alarm and detection system has been properly designed, installed, and commissioned and that it is properly managed and maintained.
  • You have people designated to take responsibility for the management and maintenance of your fire alarm system.
  • In the event of your fire alarm operating, the premises is evacuated, where this forms part of the fire strategy for your premises.
  • Your fire alarm procedures include the designation of specific staff to check whether or not there are any signs of a fire, when the fire alarm sounds.
  • If any signs of fire are found, ensure that there is a designated member of staff to call the Fire and Rescue Service using the 999/112 system.
  • Any false alarms are properly recorded in the fire alarm log book, including remedial actions taken to prevent a recurrence.

A Great Location between Manchester and Sheffield

What a great drive to work this morning….bright sunshine and a backdrop of snow-covered hills.

It’s a regular sight to see cars pulled over to photograph the stunning views (a far cry from my London commuting days!)

Our offices are based in the beautiful Peak District in Whaley Bridge near to the spa town of Buxton. However, that doesn’t mean we are stuck out in the sticks! Our engineers can easily get to Manchester in one direction,  Sheffield in the other direction and all points in between.
